Meet Gina
Passion, purpose, and resilience are my compass.
Inspired early in life by Gandhi’s belief to “be the change you want to see in the world,” I have long dedicated myself to advancing positive social change. My work has centered on service, education, healthcare, and communications, while my personal advocacy has focused on creating a more compassionate and just society.
My life has also been a profound study in resilience. I endured significant loss in my life—adversity that required me to seek stability and certainty. Through it all, I have remained committed to living with hope, gratitude, and purpose, and to helping others thrive in the aftermath of hardship.
I have long been fascinated by why some people rebound from adversity while others struggle to recover, and, as a result, I became a lifelong student of resilience. That journey inspired Buoyant, where I share wisdom, research, stories, and practical tools that have helped me and countless others navigate life’s inevitable challenges.
I have held leadership positions at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, MIT, and the Office of Governor Richard F. Celeste. Most recently, I served as Associate Dean for External Relations and Communications at Harvard Medical School, where I was responsible for shaping and communicating the institution’s scientific, educational, and policy contributions to audiences throughout the world. I have been recognized as an internationally recognized communications strategist, and have represented Harvard Medical School in Dubai, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Portugal, and beyond. In 2011, I was the only American invited to address journalists from across the Arab world at the Arab Media Forum in Dubai. I was grateful to serve as a judge for the Clinton Foundation Health Matters Codeathon and was a longtime moderator and participant in the Clinton Foundation Health Matters Initiative.
I have served on the boards of several mission-driven organizations, including the Li-Fraumeni Syndrome Association; 333 Collective, a group dedicated to women’s empowerment; Smart Medicine, advocating for innovation in medicine; and Rescuing Leftover Cuisine redistributing food to those in need. She served as Communications Chair for IM4U Learning, a group formed to motivate young voters.
I am the mother of two extraordinary children. I’m a voracious reader, poetry enthusiast, and world traveler. I love creating uplifting social media content and am deeply committed to protecting the planet, animal welfare, and using my voice to spur civic engagement. At the heart of it all, I enthusiasically work to help others build the tools, confidence, and perspective to become more resilient and happier.
